There were 568 KGM file volumes on Andrei Sakharov (Nobel prize winner, activist and nuclear scientist). All 568 files were destroyed in 1989. Memos of those files survived, however, and formed the contents of the book The KGB Files of Andrei Sakharov, by Joshua Rubenstein and Alexander Gribanov (eds.) in 2005. Read the CIA (yes that CIA) book review.
