Fodor’s Travel Wire is letting us know that New York City cultural icon/hotspot The Russian Tea Room, which closed in 2002, is back.

Although the Tea Room is currently open only for dinner, plans are underway to begin serving lunch by December. Restaurant spokesman Ken Biberaj says “Visitors to New York should feel comfortable popping by the tea room for a cup of tea or some borscht.”

Among other changes, the Tea Room plans to open its second floor and begin offering breakfast, brunch, and afternoon tea. “We limited the number [of reservations] at the beginning, so we just had non-stop traffic,” Biberaj said. “People have been waiting for the Russian Tea Room to come back and they’re very excited.”
