Leslie Feist was born in Calgary, Canada sometime in the 1970’s. Professionally, though, she just goes by Feist. Ever since my girlfriend turned me on to her music, I have played Feist a fair bit and added her songs to my playlists.

Her debut album ‘Let it Die’ is a musical melange of various styles and no 2 songs are that much alike. ‘Mushaboom’ for example is a poppy-dance-folk type of number, whereas ‘One Evening’ is a seductive jazz-funk number without the funk instruments. You might have heard ‘Mushaboom’ on tv, as it is used as the backing for the Lacoste Essential men’s fragrance (which is a nice one by the way).

So, today I want you to get to know Feist, if you don’t know her already. And if you do, here is some Feist to dig.

There is a very comprehensive biography over at MuchMusic (yes, I’m surprised too).

CBC Radio 3 can set you up with full-length listens of 6 of Feist’s songs plus a remix.

Here is the video (second version) for ‘Mushaboom’.
