polaroid film’s run is coming to an end
Polaroid camera owners, like myself, better start stocking up on Polaroid film as the company is closing out production of its film as it is closing the production plants. The only way that the film may remain on the marketplace is if Polaroid is successful in its attempts to find a partner to license the [...]

what kind of philosophy gets in the news?
Jason Stanley pontificates, on Leiter Reports, as to what it takes for the media to discuss/report on philosophy.
Lately, a good deal of philosophical research is reaching a larger public. It seems like every month a major newspaper or magazine publishes an article on the tremendous progress philosophers have been making on the problem of consciousness. [...]

kraftwerk’s ‘neon lights’
A classic track from Kraftwerk’s album the Man-Machine. Given that this video was made around 1978 (that’s when the album was released, but I’m not sure about the video), it is quite stylishly advanced. Although, this is not surprising as Kraftwork have always been cutting edge.

japanese princess’s dining habits are cause for critcism
It appears that Japan’s Crown Princess Massako is being criticized in the media for eating out at some more lavish restaurants while she is on hiatus from her official duties.

shine-free matte paints are the latest trend for cars
It appears that the latest trend for paints for cars is shine-free matte coatings.
It’s easy to see why automakers are keen on the trend. Ed Welburn, GM’s vice president for design, said nearly all automakers are experimenting with matte because it shows off the pure design of the car.
“It reduces the design to the very [...]

the idea of tom petty at half-time is boring
Like me, not everyone was a fan of having Tom Petty perform at halftime at the Superbowl.
That’s right, Tom Petty - the man with a solid UK chart history of one top-30 song from 19 years ago. The man who can look himself in the eye and know that the most extreme reaction he’s [...]

hummer spawns a truck
New for 2009 is the Hummer H3T - it’s a pickup truck. Necessary? That is questionable. Given that pickups appeal to a big, but select market, will a small pickup with a Hummer face appeal to truck buyers? Will the pickup capabilities appeal to Hummer fans? Probably not with these looks. Something to watch for. [...]
