This site is a collection of ‘things’ made and found by me, Marty Finestone. The concept that I am running with is that activitybook is part personal portfolio (fiction, non-fiction, photos, recipes, tips, musings and so forth) as well as a daily collection of links to interesting websites, videos and other content. Individually these items are things to do, i.e. activities. Collectively, they are an assemblage of activities – hence the label of activitybook.

Culture and content are what I consume. I read a plethora of magazines, books, websites and news publications. Moreover, I watch movies, television and digital video clips all with a dual intent: 1) to attempt to enjoy them, and 2) analyze and decode the texts in an attempt to understand them and see how they fit within our culture.

I also create/produce content: I am a writer, painter – working with acrylics, cook and photographer. Take a moment to peak around the website and see some of my creations.

I live in Canada and have lived in Montreal, Quebec and London, Ottawa and most recently Toronto, Ontario. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Media, Information and Technoculture from the University of Western Ontario (UWO). My interest in communications and technology and the law brought me to the University of Ottawa to pursue my law degree. I became a lawyer in 2005, but returned to the University of Ottawa to obtain a Master’s of Law with a Concentration in Law and Technology.
